A few friends have asked me to start this blog since I'm "into music" and it's really difficult to find the good stuff. Of course, since I'm also a researcher in music information retrieval, this usually comes as a double blow. I'm working on it, okay? I can't promise to publish all the time, but I figured it might be fun. I started by writing an article on Danger Mouse's & Sparklehorse's album Dark Night of the Soul, but then I thought, do I really want to bash an album for my first article? I want to find music that people will like and probably haven't heard. That's not to say that every review will be positive. And depending on how other reviews have been, I may feel a need to speak a different point of view. Yes, everyone liked Dark Night of the Soul, but I feel that was because it was seen as a record company keeping the little guy down. However, I felt the album was not good and not worth the hype.
But I digress. At this point, it's just my personal thoughts and if you are reading this, then you are a select group of people with no time on your hands. If you come across a review and have a comment, feel free to post. As of now, they are moderated, but only to keep it civil and prevent self-promotion simply for the sake of self-promotion. I will publish another site in the comments or blog if I feel it contributes to the discussion. Anyway, sit back and enjoy.
